President's Report to the Board of Regents
Administrative reports from the President of Southwest Texas State University (presently Texas State University) to the university system's Board of Regents. After 1993, the President’s Reports merged into Board of Regents meeting agendas.
Reports to the Curriculum Committee: Texas State University System Board of Regents
Reports prepared by Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) which list and summarize statistics on student enrollment by department, broken down by professor, courses taught, credit hours, and number of students enrolled. These reports are also known as "The 12th Class Day Report" or the "The 4th Class Day Report." Statistics for summer sessions are taken on the 4th day of classes, with fall and spring statistics taken on the 12th day of classes.
Rodeo Association records
The Southwest Texas State University Rodeo Association was a nonprofit student organization active from the mid-1950s to the late 1990s. This collection includes ephemera and promotional materials, as well as administrative records. Noteworthy are architectural drawings and records related to the project to build a rodeo arena structure at the Freeman Ranch.
Ronald C. Brown manuscript collection
This collection is comprised of research material compiled by Dr. Ronald Brown while writing books on the history of Texas State University. Material includes correspondence, research files and notes, drafts, project file and copy photographs from the University News Service of images used in the publications.
Snowball fight collection
This collection documents the annual snowball that happened 1964 until 1979. Materials include press releases, fact sheets, news clippings, correspondence, photographs and other printed matter originating from both the Southwest Texas State College and Michigan Technological University campus administrations and news services.
Southwest Texas State University Operating Letters
Materials consist of the first university wide policies called Southwest Texas operating letters (SWTOL) which were superseded by UPPS (University policy and procedure statements). University Archives houses the cancelled and older iterations of policies for historical/preservation purposes, and maintains older working files for current policies. Patrons requesting official policies should contact University Planning and Assessment.
Student beauty pageant collection
Materials compiled largely by the University News Service on the various beauty pageants that were held from the 1950s to the mid-1970s at Texas State University. Pageants often were held in conjunction with campus events such as homecoming. Included are photographs of contestants, a calendar, event programs, press releases, news clippings, and administrative records.
Texas State University Council of Academic Deans Meeting Records
The records within this collection document Council of Academic Deans at Texas State University official meetings and include: agendas, minutes, correspondence, meeting schedules, and agenda summaries. Also included are documents and handouts supporting agenda items or meeting topics. The Council of Academic Deans serves as an advisory board on academics with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Texas State University--San Marcos, University Council records
The University Council served as an advisory board to the University President and the President’s Cabinet from 1992 through 2014. The records within this collection document the meetings and membership of the Council as well as their recommendations to University administration.
University Campus Master Plans
Campus master plans for Texas State University. Plans generally include a current assessment of the campus, including enrollment figures, building use statistics, and a list of current construction and renovation projects. Planning assumptions, budgets, planning constraints, and design guidelines are generally included.
University Employee and Staff Handbooks
Published every other year, the employee and staff handbooks are designed to acquaint employees with a general overview of the policies, procedures, and benefits of Texas State University. Some issues include addenda. Items are arranged chronologically.

University Faculty Senate Newsletters
The Faculty Senate Newsletter informed faculty at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) of the activities and decisions made by the body. Topics included requests for agenda items, committee activities, budgeting, grading, textbook policies, pay rates and methods, sick leave and vacation, developmental leave, and grant and fellowship opportunities.
University Legislative Appropriations Requests
The legislative appropriations request from Texas State University that is prepared for the purpose of requesting legislative funds for the next biennium. Budget requests are broken down by institutional objectives and include several years of expenses along with projected budgets.
University photograph and negative collection
All of these collections have distinct provenances and date ranges. They were largely created by the News Service and University Marketing and our official university images.
Many of the negatives have envelope or roll numbers; there are gaps in the number ranges. See internal database for more details.
University policy and procedure statement records
Official records of the creation and maintenance of university policy files. Materials consist of updated or cancelled University policy and procedure statements (UPPS). The first polices were labeled as SWTOL (Southwest Texas operating letters) and were replaced by UPPS.
Arranged numerically by UPPS number. Reference materials with no policy number are in the beginning of the first box (moving expense policy, timeine for review and update, UPPS XX.XX.XX state publication).
